Three days without.
Nerves on edge, emotions right on the surface
Swinging wildly from hopeful to suicidal
Phantom pains and flesh itching
Heart pumping frantically,
Various hormones flooding to compensate
No relief.
Three days without.
Knowing beforehand as the supply dwindled;
Feeling the nervous twitches
As I greedily meted out increments
Until it ran out.
Emptiness screams in every crevice
Nothing now.
Three days without.
How quickly a prisoner was made
Locked within a holy cell
And now I pace, a starving animal
No longer human but something primal
Driven by instinct, need
And finding nothing to satisfy the hunger
Three days without.
Desperate worrying, wondering when
That next precious fix will come
To take away the gnawing ache
Make me feel strong again
Able to face the days and nights
No more insecurities.
Three days without.
You.

It's so safe to play along
Little soldiers in a row
Falling in and out of love
Something sweet to throw away.

Paints a very raw, open picture. No beating around the bush here...hopefully you will get your "fix" soon!
